Power Tec Paint Thickness Gauge Aluminium & Steel Depth

The Power Tec coatings and thickness gauge measures the thickness of the coating applied over steel or aluminium substrate to check for thin or even thick areas of coating. A thin coating would be a red flag to not work or polish an area as the coating may not be enough to work on and remove any layers of paint/lacquer to level out a scratch or deep damaged area. Likewise an area with a deep coating is also a red flag as indicates a repair – for instance an area of filler so again may not be an ideal area to polish due to previous bodywork damage.

PLEASE NOTE: this paint gauge unfortunately doesn't work on electric vehicles, and hybrid vehicles will only provide partial readings.

Gauge is a handy addition to any detailers kit to save working an unsuitable area and highlight an area to a customer that you may wish to point out pre detail.  

Gauge works on steel or aluminium metal surfaces with flat or curved profiles. Auto detection of base material: ferrous (steel, etc) and non-ferrous (aluminium, copper, etc) metals.

Included in the box are 2x calibration base (F/NF), 5 x standard calibration foil. Requires 2 x AAA batteries (included). Please refer to instructions for use & technical specification.
