Which snow foam is right for you?

Best for regular maintenance washes: A pH neutral snow foam is the safest choice for frequent use, as it won't strip existing wax or sealant protection. ValetPRO pH Neutral Snow Foam and Gtechniq W4 Citrus Snow Foam are both well suited to regular washing without compromising your existing protection.

Best for heavy contamination: When your car has built up significant dirt, road grime, or bug splatter, a more aggressive snow foam will shift more before the contact wash. Koch-Chemie Active Foam and Koch-Chemie Sf Super Foam are highly concentrated options designed for heavier soiling.

Why use snow foam?

The importance of a vehicle pre-wash cannot be underestimated. Snow foam and pre-wash chemicals are now a vital part of a paint-conscious car cleaning process. Without a pre-wash stage, any dirt, grit, or road salt on the surface is at risk of being dragged across the paintwork by your wash mitt, causing fine scratches and swirl marks that dull the finish over time.

Snow foam works by encapsulating and lifting surface contamination so it can be rinsed away safely before any physical contact with the paint. The thicker the foam and the longer the panel dwell, the more time the product has to work on the soiling. After rinsing, your paintwork is significantly cleaner and safer to wash by hand using the two bucket method.

Snow foam and car wash lances: what you need to know

To apply snow foam you need a snow foam lance, also known as a car foam lance or car wash lance. This is a bottle with an attachment that fits onto your pressure washer to produce a thick, foamy covering that is sprayed onto the vehicle. The quality of your lance affects the thickness and consistency of the foam produced, which in turn affects how well the snow foam can dwell and work on the surface.

Bilt Hamber Snow Foam

Bilt Hamber Auto-Foam is the result of extensive in-house research and development. It is a new generation, premium quality, foaming water-based pre-wash treatment, designed to soak and saturate soiled vehicle paintwork prior to the application of shampoo through the two bucket method. Seasoned snow foam users rate it highly for its exceptional panel dwell, which lasts typically for five minutes. Available as a standalone 5 litre, or as a kit with the Slim's Detailing Snow Foam Lance.

Bilt Hamber Touch-Less is the double-concentrate version of the pre-clean snow foam, applied via pressure washer or with a garden hose and pump sprayer. It is also available as a kit with the Slim's Detailing Snow Foam Lance.

Koch-Chemie Snow Foam

Koch-Chemie Gentle Snow Foam is a high foaming, pH neutral snow foam with a pleasant cherry scent, suitable for regular maintenance washes. CARPRO Snow Foam

CARPRO Hydro2 Foam is much more than a snow foam: it is a pH neutral cleaner and foaming protection product in one, leaving a hydrophobic layer to protect between washes. CARPRO Iron X Snow Soap combines the popular Iron X iron remover with a degreaser and shampoo, tackling iron contamination and general soiling in the same pre-wash step.
