A Look Inside Slim's Master Detailer Training

Our Master Detailer Training is a 3-day course that covers the correct wash, clean, and preparation techniques, an understanding of paint and machine polishing, plus protection, interior detailing, and finishing touches.

Candidates are encouraged to carry out the detail work on the vehicle with constant demonstration, supervision and appraisal from the trainer. If you are interested in taking up detailing as a profession, we can help you consider costings, best practices, and work flow.

Module 1: Cleaning, Decontamination, and Preparatory Work

All things cleaning! Learn how to thoroughly decontaminate the vehicle and prepare surfaces for further work. Master the best techniques of how to use products such as iron & fallout remover, snow foam, glass cleaner, engine bay cleaner, and more. A discussion will be had on product choices, brand options, and safe practices. Take a look at interior detailing with a cleaning product for every surface plus interior dressings to protect against dirt and liquid spills.

Module 2: Understanding of Paint Correction

After decontamination, it's time to learn all about machine polishing. Learn how to spot swirl marks and holograms in vehicle paint and how to use a paint depth gauge before picking up a machine polisher. Then learn how to correct imperfections with the appropriate polishing pad and compound. Master an understanding of available polishing systems, from heavy cut to finishing compounds, and finish off by using a work light to ensure a flawless, hologram-free finish.

Module 3: Ceramic Coating & Finishing Touches

Once you have a sleek, glossy paint finish, it's time to seal that in! Explore different coating options - from paintwork and plastics to glass and metal. Learn the best application techniques, how to identify common problems then rectify them, and correct removal and buffing. Compare the pros and cons of waxing versus ceramic coating and try your hand at both!
